Pragmatic Wonderings - to Tony et al.

Hi, Tony - thanks for the chat today - I have come away with an understanding that "Western Science" is seen, within the "Scientific Community" a phrase that signifies ignorance.  That is helpful, thank you. I can see the value in conversations that clarify the nature of science. And, indeed, as informed by Wittgenstein, all words that are used differently in different networks need to be used carefully, and their meanings explored.

That has led me to notice that, as part of investigations I carried out around 2000, I explored heaps of ideas around holism and pragmatism. There was no way I was interested, as a teacher educator, in getting involved in debates about either philosophy, sociology, or any of the other important developments that could impact on teaching.  My big story was about how to involve teachers more actively in addressing the big issues that affect children's learning.

So, I developed tool called a "pragmatic wondering" which allowed me to assemble what I saw as tool for collecting up a variety of ideas which, when put together, raised significant issues that could be discussed by teachers who were exploring educational opportunities within their own praxis (ie within their own thinking and paid work - their ideas and actions).

Here are two examples - I thought that, assuming you will, hopefully, have time to kill in an airoplane shortly, they might be of interest to you.

The second looks at the future - what are the substantive issues we need to address?  I realise that this would be very different today - disinformation, social norms, and the climate would have played a far greater part
