Zettels

Zettels is the title of a collection of Wittgenstein's writing.   My Zettels are also a collection of random thoughts.  There is no need to assemble them - they tell their own random story.

Z1 Plato's republic

I have two copies of Plato's republic - the one I bought when I studied philosophy 101 in the 1960's, and the other that I got later, when I inherited my mother's books.  She must have studied it for her BA - she was born in 1905.  So this note is about privilege and luck.  How privileged and lucky I was to have a mother who had read Plato.
